Light Paintings by artist Stephen Knapp
"Knapp creates his works by using dichroic glass, which is treated with layers of metallic coatings. These combine to act as a selective prism, separating focused light into different frequencies of the spectrum. Knapp cuts, shapes and polishes the glass to create a palette that refracts and reflects light onto a surface and the surrounding space." - Dayton Art Institute
I visited the Stephen Knapp exhibit at the Naples, Fl art museum twice. It was absolutely stunning and I was fascinated by the intersection of light, painting and sculpture. Knapp takes a painterly approach to light painting. I definitely see the influence of light artist James Turrell in his work.
